ARBURG is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of plastic processing machines. The portfolio includes ALLROUNDER injection moulding machines with clamping forces between 125 and 6,500 kN, freeformers for industrial additive manufacturing, robotic systems, turnkey solutions and further peripherals.

ARBURG is a pioneer in the plastics industry when it comes to production efficiency, digitalisation and sustainability. Products and services

With ARBURG machine technology, plastic parts from high-volume production to single-unit batches can be produced in optimum quality at minimum unit costs - e.g. for the automotive and packaging industries, electronics, medical technology or white goods sectors.

The ARBURG product portfolio for plastics processing comprises electric, hybrid, hydraulic and vertical ALLROUNDER injection moulding machines with clamping forces from 125 to 6,500 kN, which can be equipped to meet customer and industry-specific requirements. With the freeformers, ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) can be used for the additive manufacturing of functional components from qualified original standard granulates. The product range is completed by the central GESTICA and SELOGICA control systems developed and built by ARBURG, the ARBURG host computer system (ALS) as a central component of Industry 4.0 and networked production, as well as robotic systems, turnkey systems and peripherals.

ARBURG sees great potential in digitalisation and offers manifold added value with its digital products and services. Many customers worldwide use the digital platform arburgXworld. The customer portal with its apps and configuration levels version makes work easier all along the value chain of injection moulding. arburgXworld is available in 18 languages including Chinese, the basic version is free.

LSR ALLROUNDER 470 E GOLDEN ELECTRIC

An LSR version of the ALLROUNDER 470 E GOLDEN ELECTRIC will go on show at Chinaplas 2021. This economical electric machine is ideal for the Asian market. The exhibit produces high-quality LSR lenses for car matrix headlights. The turnkey system is equipped with a linear MULTILIFT SELECT and a six-axis robot. A lasered DM code makes each component 100 percent traceable.

ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) and the ARBURG product portfolio for industrial additive manufacturing will be presented at Chinaplas 2021. On display will be a freeformer 300-3X with three discharge units. The exhibit will turn original plastic granulates into functional components “live”.

FDC process: ALLROUNDER for innovative lightweight construction
The program "arburgGREENworld" includes the subject resource-saving. At the Chinaplas 2021 a resource-saving lightweight construction application will be presented: Via the innovative Fibre Direct Compounding (FDC) process, a lateral feeder cuts glass fibre rovings into lengths before adding them directly into the liquid melt to reinforce the component with continuous fibres. The materials are readily available and the process reduces costs by up to 40 percent. The fibre length, fibre content and material combination can be adapted flexibly to influence the component properties in a targeted manner.
A hydraulic ALLROUNDER 820 S produces long glass fibre-reinforced PP platforms. The cycle time is around 80 s and the weight of the moulded part 680 g. The consistency of the shot weight and fibre content is displayed via a weight monitor integrated into the automation system, with the measurement being checked as a process parameter in the control system. A linear MULTILIFT SELECT deposits the finished parts on a conveyor belt.

LSR ALLROUNDER 470 E GOLDEN ELECTRIC
To demonstrate the reproducible production of high-quality LSR components, ARBURG is showcasing an electric ALLROUNDER from the GOLDEN ELECTRIC series in an LSR version. The cost-effective electric machine is predestined for the Asian market. The exhibit produces LSR lenses, each containing 33 optical fibres, in an automated manner. The turnkey system is equipped with two robotic systems and a 2-fold-mould from the local Partner Concraft. The cycle time is about 100 seconds. A linear MULTILIFT SELECT removes the 18.5 gram lenses each from the mould and places them on a cooling station. A six-axis robot of the Chinese company AID delivers the injection moulded parts to a laser station where a DM code is applied. Every part is therefore 100 per cent traceable. At the trade fair, the production data for each individual component can be retrieved using the code in the arburgXworld customer portal. Further reading

The customer portal arburgXworld with its apps and configuration levels version makes work easier all along the value chain of injection moulding – from dimensioning and ordering the new ALLROUNDER 270 S compact, to simulating the control system, monitoring the machine fleet and documenting production processes, right through to ordering spare parts and providing digital services. arburgXworld is available in 18 languages including Chinese, the basic version is free.
All the injection moulding exhibits on show at the trade fair will also feature an IIoT gateway and be networked with the ARBURG ALS host computer system.
