About us

Lindauer DORNIER GmbH with its product lines weaving machines, special machines and composite systems is one of the technology leaders worldwide. In 2019, the German family-owned company with around 1,000 employees achieved an order volume of around 222 million Euros. In plant engineering, DORNIER is the market leader in the engineering and production of film stretching lines for the production of the thinnest plastic films. As well as in the  packaging industry, including in particular the food and  pharmaceutical sectors, these are used in high-tech products such as semicon-ductors, capacitors for hybrid vehicles and as film displays in smartphones, flat screens and tablets. In the Composite Systems division, the mechanical engineering company bundles its decades of experience in the design of weaving machines and the manufacture of production lines for plastic films. All machines and lines are manufactured at the German production sites in Lindau and Esseratsweiler.

Products and services

At the DORNIER stand F25 in hall 10 you will receive interesting information about customized solutions for the production of mono- and biaxially oriented films. With DORNIER lines film can be produced from various materials, such as PET, PP, PEN, PA, PS or TAC. With the DORNIER machines and plants it is possible to cover the requested thickness ranges, depending on application of film. For polyester condenser film plants are available for final thicknesses of down to 1 µm and a trimmed width of 5.5 m and for thick film application there are plants up to a maximum film thickness of 400 µm and a width up to 7 m. For packaging application DORNIER offers lines with a thickness range of 8 - 125 µm, a trimmed width of 10.6 m and speeds up to 650 m/min. In case of polypropylene application the DORNIER film production lines are designed for a thickness range of 10 - 50 µm, a trimmed width of 10.5 m and production speeds of 650 m/min.
High dimensional stability: MD-Relax

The MD-Relax system for the transverse stretching machine is based on a variable clip pitch ensuring a very high dimensional stability by ontrolled inline relaxation of the film in machine direction. There is no need for additional offline post-treatment. Films from DORNIER film production lines are therefore ideal starting materials for applications with high heat exposure, such as film for photovoltaics cells, displays or rechargeable
batteries.

Benchmark since years: the transverse stretching machine

DORNIER’s Transverse Direction Oriented (TDO) machines are highly efficient and maintenance-friendly. They run reliably even at production speeds of 650 m/min. Their closed design and intelligent air guiding ensure minimum energy consumption and excellent heat transfer. Thus, the temperature is optimally distributed and the air velocity is kept constant in machine and transverse direction.
