The perfect protection for extruders Standard-design safety clutches are not optimally suited for extruders. The new EAS®-dutytorque, which has been specifically designed for this application, offers perfect and reliable protection.
In malfunction-free operation, the EAS®-dutytorque transmits the torque with high precision, while at the same time compensating for shaft misalignments between the input and the output. If the set torque is exceeded due to a malfunction or a blockage, the clutch disengages reliably within split seconds with high switch-off and repeat accuracies, separating the input and output almost residual torque-free. The clutch remains disengaged until it is re-engaged by hand. The EAS®-dutytorque protects extruders from damages in case of malfunctions. The investment in a new safety clutch is low in comparison to the costs which may arise in case of overload due to damage on valuable components, machine downtimes and production stoppage.
Due to the large permitted shaft diameters, there are almost no limitations when selecting the drive motors. The high clutch balance quality guarantees smooth running of the drive. The EAS®-dutytorque has a split hub on the flexible side. The claw ring of the flexible coupling can be unscrewed and pushed back. This means that the input and output are separated mechanically without axial movement of all the drive components. This function is used to check the motor running characteristics in idle running condition or if the clutch flexible intermediate ring has to be replaced.
Furthermore, when the claw ring is pushed back, the entire clutch can be dismantled radially without having to move the attached aggregates axially.
